[Edaily Reporter kim mi-kyung ] Daesang boosted both its revenue and operating profit in the second quarter of this year, driven by improved profitability in its food business and growth in its global operations.

Daesang(001680)Daesang announced on the 14th that its consolidated revenue for the second quarter of this year reached 1.1658 trillion won, an 8.3% increase compared to the same period last year. Operating profit for the same period was 46.5 billion won, up 16.2% from 40 billion won a year earlier.

Cumulative results for the first half of the year also improved. First-half revenue totaled 2.2756 trillion won, a 3.1% increase from 2.2067 trillion won in the same period last year, while operating profit rose 6.9% year-over-year to 103.5 billion won. Factors contributing to the improved profitability included reductions in manufacturing costs and enhanced operational efficiency. Additionally, the growth of the global food business—driven by the development of locally tailored products and the expansion into new markets and locations—also boosted performance.

Daesang plans to strengthen profit-driven growth in the second half of the year by expanding its high-value-added product lines. The company will expand into new target markets, such as broth and meal seasoning mixes, and strengthen its portfolio of health-oriented products. Furthermore, Daesang intends to secure growth momentum for its overseas food business by focusing its localization strategies on core categories—including kimchi, seaweed, sauces, and convenience foods—and by expanding into new global markets and distribution channels.

In the ingredients business, Daesang plans to enhance global competitiveness by diversifying its lysine supply sources and secure future growth engines by expanding its alternative sweeteners portfolio, decarbonizing manufacturing facilities, and strengthening energy efficiency.

A Daesang official stated, “We are boosting the profitability of our food business through improvements in manufacturing costs and operational efficiency, while simultaneously sustaining the growth of our global food business by developing locally tailored products and expanding into new markets and locations.” The official added, “We will secure a competitive edge and continue profit-driven growth by expanding our high-value-added product lineup and implementing global localization strategies.”
