[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyun-ah ] LG Corp. ( LG Corp.(003550)) is partnering with NVIDIA to develop next-generation humanoid robots. The company will leverage NVIDIA’s robotics computing platform and humanoid artificial intelligence (AI) models while pooling the hardware capabilities—including sensors, actuators, and batteries—of LG Corp. affiliates. The first prototype is scheduled to be unveiled in the first quarter of next year.
On the 13th (local time), LG Corp. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for strategic business cooperation at NVIDIA’s headquarters in Santa Clara, California, with LG Group Chairman Koo Kwang-mo and NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang in attendance.
The core of this collaboration is to move beyond the level of existing technical discussions and expand into actual development, demonstration, and commercialization in the fields of robotics, AI factories, and future mobility.

First, the two companies will develop next-generation bipedal humanoid robots using “Isaac GR00T,” NVIDIA’s foundational model for humanoid robots. They will apply NVIDIA’s “Jetson Thor” for on-device computing and control of the robots and will also utilize “NVIDIA HALOS for Robotics,” a robot safety system.
LG will pool the capabilities of its affiliates, including LGELECTRONICS(066570), LG Innotek(011070), and LG Energy Solution(373220). The company aims to enhance its hardware competitiveness by combining LGELECTRONICS’ robot development and manufacturing capabilities with LG Innotek’s sensors, LG Energy Solution’s batteries, and LGELECTRONICS’ actuators.
In particular, LG Corp. plans to utilize NVIDIA technology while simultaneously developing its own Robot Foundation Model (RFM). The strategy involves leveraging data collected from actual robots and field-testing experience in production environments to refine its proprietary AI models.
The company is also building infrastructure to collect robot data and train and validate AI models. Based on LG Corp.’s robot data platform “PhysicalWorks,” LG plans to establish a “Robot Data Factory” that continuously collects robot data from the field and generates synthetic data for training and validation.
On-site demonstrations will also begin in earnest. By the end of this year, LG Corp. plans to deploy its wheeled robot, “LG CLOiD,” on the LGELECTRONICS washing machine production line in Tennessee, U.S., to verify its performance and usability in a real manufacturing environment. Based on the results of this verification, the company intends to expand the scope of application to global production facilities as well as residential and commercial spaces.
The two companies will also operate a joint task force (TF) composed of technology and business experts. They plan to broaden the scope of cooperation—from research and development (R&D) to field validation and commercialization—to accelerate the pace of actual commercialization.
They will also expand their collaboration in the AI factory sector. LG Corp. will establish a reference site covering everything from the design to the deployment and operation of AI infrastructure using “DSX,” NVIDIA’s AI factory architecture. The AI factory reference site, which will incorporate NVIDIA’s next-generation GPU platform “Vera Rubin,” is scheduled to be built in the first half of next year.
Based on this, the companies plan to build an 80MW-class LG Corp. AI Factory in Cheonan, South Chungcheong Province, in the first half of 2028. The vision is to validate the infrastructure for developing physical AI and robot foundation models at this site and subsequently expand the AI infrastructure business to target global big tech companies.
The two companies will also collaborate in the future mobility sector. LG Corp. will develop a high-performance computing platform for next-generation AI-defined vehicles (AIDVs) based on NVIDIA’s automotive platform, “DRIVE Hyperion.” By combining LGELECTRONICS’ automotive infotainment and software capabilities with NVIDIA’s autonomous driving technology, the companies plan to expand their automotive solutions business targeting global automakers.
Through this collaboration, LG Corp.’s strategy is to expand its business scope beyond the in-house development of humanoid robots to encompass the entire spectrum of physical AI—including the acquisition of robot data, AI model training, AI factories, and autonomous driving platforms.
