On the 19th, ARIS, an independent research firm, assessed that YoungWoo DSP Co.,Ltd.—having successfully turned around its first-half performance based on its display testing equipment business—could see its semiconductor equipment business establish itself as a key growth driver.
YoungWoo DSP Co.,Ltd.’s consolidated revenue for the first half of this year reached 39.9 billion won, a 49.9% increase compared to the same period last year. The company returned to profitability, posting an operating profit of 3.67 billion won and a net profit of 4.85 billion won. Its current order backlog stands at approximately 41.9 billion won.
ARIS paid particular attention to the “VEGA S-1000,” a 3D inspection system for semiconductor wafer bumps developed by YoungWoo DSP Co.,Ltd. Wafer bumps are microscopic protrusions that connect semiconductor chips to substrates, and this equipment is designed to inspect the shape and defects of these bumps. As advanced semiconductor packaging processes—such as High-Bandwidth Memory (HBM)—continue to evolve, the importance of precision inspection equipment is also growing.
YoungWoo DSP Co.,Ltd. has applied the ultra-precise optical and control technologies it accumulated through its existing display inspection equipment business to the semiconductor inspection field. According to YoungWoo DSP Co.,Ltd., the VEGA S-1000 can process 103 wafers per hour and incorporates the company’s proprietary optical system and high-speed data processing technology.
Tangible results in the semiconductor equipment sector are also emerging. According to ARIS, YoungWoo DSP Co.,Ltd. secured 1.09 billion won in new orders for semiconductor equipment in the first half of this year. This is considered significant as it marks the company’s first order since expanding its business scope from its traditional display-focused operations into semiconductor equipment.
Currently, domestic semiconductor companies are conducting pilot tests using the VEGA S-1000. ARIS forecasts that if the company secures references through these tests and wins additional orders, the revenue contribution from its semiconductor equipment business could increase.
Lee Jae-mo, an analyst at ARIS, stated, “YoungWoo DSP Co.,Ltd. has secured a stable cash flow base through its display inspection equipment business and is using this foundation to push into the semiconductor inspection equipment market.” He added, “If the company secures references in the semiconductor inspection equipment sector and lands additional orders, we expect earnings growth and a revaluation of the company’s market value.”
