[Edaily Reporter Shin Ha-yeon ] Rainbow Robotics(277810)and Big Wave Robotics announced on the 20th that they have signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) to enter the North American robotics market.
Through this agreement, the two companies plan to combine Rainbow Robotics’ robot hardware technology with Big Wave Robotics’ capabilities in robot monitoring, control, and data management software to develop integrated robot solutions tailored to the U.S. market. Rainbow Robotics provides a full-stack robot lineup—including the mobile dual-arm robot “RB-Y1,” collaborative robots, autonomous mobile robots (AMRs), and quadruped walking robots—all developed and manufactured in-house, along with related APIs and protocols. In particular, the two companies plan to focus on expanding the supply of the RB-Y1 in the North American market.
Big Wave Robotics is responsible for optimizing automation systems and managing on-site operations based on “SOLlink,” a software platform that integrates and controls various types of robots and equipment. The company also plans to systematically manage robot operation data by integrating “Data Studio,” a robot data collection and analysis solution.
The two companies will jointly develop and commercialize robot solutions tailored to the U.S. market and collaborate on local sales and marketing. They plan to participate jointly in major trade shows and share their pipeline of potential customers, while also collaborating throughout the entire business process—from proof of concept (PoC) and on-site setup to remote monitoring and maintenance—for U.S. customers.
Through this partnership, Rainbow Robotics aims to lower the barriers to robot adoption in the North American market by enhancing interoperability with its software platform, while Big Wave Robotics plans to expand the global reach of Solink and Data Studio.
Kim Min-kyo, CEO of Big Wave Robotics, stated, “It is meaningful to enter the North American robotics automation market—the world’s largest and fastest-growing—alongside Rainbow Robotics, a leading South Korean robotics company.” He added, “Based on Solink’s robust integrated control capabilities and the advanced operational experience provided by DataStudio, we will deliver innovative and sustainable robotics value to local customers in North America.”
