ActRo has completed the entire process—from product development to the establishment of its own production line, reliability testing, and the first mass-production shipment—in approximately 10 months since entering the North American automotive supply chain.

After being selected as a supplier for a global automaker late last year, ActRo invested approximately 15.4 billion won in its local subsidiary in Vietnam to produce components for autonomous vehicles. The company expanded its cleanroom facilities in Vietnam and established production lines utilizing its proprietary technology.

In particular, the company established automated production facilities incorporating artificial intelligence (AI)-based systems and in-house developed automated inspection and production equipment. The company explained that this has enabled it to meet the quality standards required for autonomous driving components while simultaneously improving production efficiency.

The components that have now entered mass production are scheduled to be sequentially installed in three major vehicle models from a North American automaker. ActRo has already completed the shipment of its first supply batch.

As autonomous driving technology advances, the increasing number of cameras installed in a single vehicle is also cited as an additional growth factor. ActRo expects the supply volume of related components to more than triple annually and is considering expanding production capacity further next year to meet the growing demand.

An ActRo official stated, “Since being selected as a supplier late last year, we have successfully achieved all milestones for this new business—from product development and the establishment of automated production lines to reliability testing and full-scale mass production—without a hitch.” The official added, “Starting with the autonomous vehicle components business, we will expand our business scope beyond our existing smartphone-centric structure to include components for humanoid robots, aiming to grow into a leading manufacturer of core components for physical AI.”
