[Edaily Starin YUN GI BACK Reporter] “Big Bang Is Back.”
Big Bang, celebrating the 20th anniversary of their debut, is once again proving they live up to their name. Their new song, released after four years and four months, swept the top spots on major domestic music charts the moment it was unveiled, and now the stage shifts to Goyang. Having built anticipation with their new track, Big Bang will kick off their 20th-anniversary celebration this weekend with a massive three-day concert.

According to their agency, YG Entertainment, Big Bang will hold their 20th-anniversary world tour, “XX: COSMOS,” at the Main Stadium of the Goyang Sports Complex for three days from the 21st to the 23rd. This concert holds special significance as it not only commemorates Big Bang’s 20th anniversary but also marks the starting point of their upcoming world tour.
The excitement is already building. Big Bang’s recently released new song “BiiiG” topped major domestic music charts—including Melon’s Top 100, Genie, and Bugs—immediately upon its release. This demonstrates that Big Bang’s “music chart dominance,” which has consistently shaken the charts with every new release, remains as strong as ever despite their long hiatus.

What’s particularly eye-catching is the impact generated by a group now in its 20th year since debut. The generational shift in K-pop is faster than in any other music market. New groups are emerging nonstop, and trend cycles are becoming increasingly shorter. Meanwhile, BIGBANG, which debuted in 2006, has gone through several long hiatuses. Nevertheless, the fact that they claimed the top spots on major charts with just a single new song is difficult to explain simply as “nostalgia.”
BIGBANG led the K-pop scene from the late 2000s onward, releasing numerous hit songs such as “Lie,” “Last Farewell,” “Day by Day,” “Fantastic Baby,” and “Bang Bang Bang.” They were hailed as a prime example of a “self-produced idol group,” with members actively participating in music production, and they had a significant influence on subsequent generations not only through their music but also in areas such as fashion and live performances.
Consequently, this 20th-anniversary campaign holds significance beyond a simple reunion or commemorative concert. This is because they are not merely relying on past hits; instead, they are first releasing new songs to test their competitiveness in today’s music market before embarking on a large-scale tour. This move demonstrates that they are not merely “a group that was once popular returning,” but an active group still capable of moving the market.
Goyang is the stage where fans can witness this momentum firsthand. BIGBANG will meet fans for three consecutive days at the Goyang Sports Complex. The concerts are expected to showcase both BIGBANG’s past and present on a single stage, featuring not only their signature songs accumulated over the past 20 years but also new tracks. In particular, as this marks the first stop on their world tour, the outline of the 20th-anniversary performances they will present on the global stage is expected to be revealed here for the first time.
