According to MP Doctor, as of 9:20 a.m. today, KumhoElectric was trading at 9,670 won, up 2,210 won (29.62%) from the previous day, coming very close to the daily price limit (9,690 won). It briefly rose to 9,370 won during the session, setting a new 52-week high.

This means the stock price has surged 135% in just 15 trading days since trading restrictions were lifted on July 30. The stock had also hit the daily price limit the previous day.
The sharp rise in KumhoElectric’s stock price is linked to expectations surrounding the “Honam Semiconductor Cluster.” Since the investment plan for the Honam Semiconductor Cluster—valued at approximately 800 trillion won and involving SamsungElectronics and SK hynix—was announced last June, affiliates of the Honam-based Kumho Group have been successively grouped as “theme stocks.” Recently, as President Lee Jae-myung reiterated the need for swift implementation of the project, buying momentum for related stocks has surged once again.
Although KumhoElectric, a lighting and LED manufacturer, has no direct business connection to the semiconductor cluster, analysts note that its “regional ties”—specifically, its base in the Honam region—are serving as a key catalyst for the stock’s performance.
