[Edaily Reporter SOYEON KIM ] SK hynix has denied reports that it is planning to build a semiconductor factory in Japan, stating that no decision has been made yet.
On the 21st, SK hynix stated in a response to a regulatory inquiry, “We are reviewing various options, including the establishment of additional production bases, to strengthen the competitiveness of our memory business; however, nothing has been finalized as of yet.”
Previously, SK hynix had also stated that it had “no plans to acquire” Intel’s semiconductor campus in Ohio in response to reports that it was pursuing such a deal.

(Photo: SK hynix) SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won has consistently maintained that, regarding the construction of semiconductor factories, the location does not matter as long as the conditions are right. He said, “We must find a location that meets the conditions and build as many facilities as necessary.”
