[Edaily Reporter Park Jung-Soo ] #LINCSOLUTION CO., LTD., a company specializing in 3D printing-based smart manufacturing, announced on the 24th that it has opened the “Daejeon Defense & Aerospace Center,” a defense-specialized additive manufacturing hub, in Daehwa-dong, Daejeon.
LINCSOLUTION CO., LTD. plans to use the Chonbang Defense & Aerospace Center as a base and, in conjunction with the “Daejeon AM Foundry” (a large-scale additive manufacturing foundry) set to relocate to a new facility this December, pursue entry into the global defense supply chain.
Recently, in major defense markets such as the U.S. and Europe, additive manufacturing (AM) has been utilized as a technology to strengthen supply chain stability and maintenance, repair, and overhaul (MRO) capabilities. This is because it enhances supply chain responsiveness by enabling the production of discontinued or urgently needed parts exactly when they are required.
In defense additive manufacturing, data protection and process security are critical, as digital design data is directly linked to production equipment. The United States is phasing in the “Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC),” which verifies the cybersecurity level of the defense supply chain, into defense contracts.
In response, LINCSOLUTION CO., LTD. has established a standalone security infrastructure at its Chonbang Defense and Aerospace Center, featuring dedicated servers for defense and aerospace projects, Design for Additive Manufacturing (DfAM) terminals, and designated PCs for controlling 3D printers. Design and manufacturing data are also managed in an environment isolated from external networks.
Based on this infrastructure, the company plans to support the prototyping and mass production of components used in aircraft, satellites, launch vehicles, and guided weapons, as well as the localization of discontinued parts and responses to urgent manufacturing demands. It will also gradually enhance its relevant systems to meet the security requirements of the global defense supply chain, such as CMMC. Currently, the company is also collaborating with domestic aerospace firms on the manufacturing of core components for next-generation space vehicles.
The Chonbang Defense and Space Center plans to expand its production capacity in conjunction with the Chonbang AM Foundry, which is scheduled to relocate to a new facility this December. The center aims to scale up the defense-specific security and manufacturing capabilities it has established into large-scale production infrastructure, enabling it to handle not only prototyping and high-variety, low-volume production but also mass production.
