[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] On the 25th, independent research firm Value Finder analyzed that SOFTCAMP CO., LTD(258790)recorded consolidated revenue of 7 billion won and operating profit of 500 million won in the second quarter of this year, marking year-over-year increases of 37.5% and 227%, respectively, and continuing its strong earnings growth trend. During the same period, net income attributable to controlling shareholders turned significantly profitable, reaching 3.1 billion won. This resulted from the recognition of approximately 3.4 billion won in valuation gains following a revaluation of the stake in “Enki WhiteHat,” a white-hat hacker company in which SoftCamp acquired a stake as part of its strategic investment in 2021. Consequently, the value of SOFTCAMP’s stake in Enki WhiteHat (3.39%) surged from 1.7 billion won to 5.1 billion won. Last July, the company successfully liquidated part of its holdings by selling half of its stake at 17,000 won per share (totaling approximately 2.6 billion won). Given that Enki WhiteHat has passed the KOSDAQ technology evaluation and is pursuing an IPO (initial public offering) in the second half of the year, analysts believe there is significant potential for the value of the remaining stake to be revalued further. Its core businesses—document security and zero-trust solutions—are also experiencing rapid growth. “DRM” revenue reached approximately 700 million won, 2.4 times the previous year’s annual figure (300 million won), while “SHIELDEX” revenue surpassed 400 million won in the first half alone—1.6 times the previous year’s annual total. Exports also surged 4.3 times compared to the previous year’s total, reaching approximately 500 million won, and overseas distribution channels—centered on the Japanese subsidiary—are now fully operational. SOFTCAMP is actively continuing its investment in expanding its zero-trust lineup, having launched seven new products—including “SHIELD Gate Teams App,” “SHIELD Web,” and “InfoDiscovery”—in the first half of this year alone. As personal data breaches spread across the country, demand for security solutions is expected to continue growing. In March, information on approximately 19.53 million users—including CI and DI data—was leaked from Baedal Minjok, and in June, a similar breach occurred at TVING, marking the fourth-largest data breach in history. On the 11th of this month, Sogang University suffered a breach involving 180,000 records due to a brute-force attack targeting its unified login accounts. As the risks of both external hacking and insider leaks grow simultaneously, the need for DRM—which encrypts documents themselves—and Zero Trust—which constantly verifies access and accounts—is becoming increasingly prominent. Furthermore, with the revised Personal Information Protection Act, set to take effect this September, significantly raising the maximum penalty for serious or repeated violations to 10% of total revenue, corporate security investment is establishing itself not as a cost but as an essential area of risk management. Jeon Woo-bin, a researcher at Value Finder, emphasized, “While the gain on the sale of Enki WhiteHat shares is a one-time event, there is potential for the value of the remaining shares to be further highlighted during the IPO process in the second half of the year.” He added, “As security investment is becoming established as a core risk management area due to recurring personal information leaks and the implementation of the revised Personal Information Protection Act, the trend of high growth in DRM and Zero Trust revenue is expected to continue into the second half of the year.”
