[Edaily Reporter Kim Kyung-eun ] The KOSPI has turned higher during the trading session and is now showing a gain in the 2% range. This is believed to be due to buying pressure from the “Other Corporations” sector, which has helped shore up market supply and demand, as SamsungElectronics and SK hynix have successively launched large-scale share buybacks.

According to MP Doctor on the 26th, as of 1:20 p.m. that day, the KOSPI was trading at 6,878.67, up 135.93 points (2.02%) from the previous trading day.

The index opened at 6,727.25, down 15.49 points (0.23%) from the previous close, and remained in a narrow trading range for a while. However, it showed signs of recovery in the afternoon and regained the 6,800 level.

By investor type, retail investors and foreign investors recorded net sales of 1.731 trillion won and 128.6 billion won, respectively, while institutional investors posted net purchases of 716.5 billion won. Notably, “other corporations” accounted for net purchases totaling 1.1431 trillion won.

The domestic stock market is seeing a growing wait-and-see sentiment ahead of NVIDIA’s earnings announcement tomorrow. However, buying pressure from “other corporations”—presumed to be related to share buybacks by SamsungElectronics and SK hynix—is seen as supporting the index against further declines.

SamsungElectronics(005930)is currently trading at 264,500 won, up 7,500 won (2.92%) from the previous trading day. SK hynix(000660)is trading at 1,724,000 won, up 46,000 won (2.74%).

In addition, among the top KOSPI stocks by market capitalization, SKSQUARE(402340)(1.42%), HyundaiMotor(005380)(1.31%), LG Energy Solution(373220)(0.14%), SAMSUNG BIOLOGICS(207940)(1.07%), SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION(028260)(5.45%), and Samsung Life Insurance(032830)(9.13%) are all on the rise. On the other hand, SamsungElectroMechanics(009150)(-0.95%), KB Financial Group(105560)(-0.54%), and HANWHA AEROSPACE(012450)(-2.54%) are down.

Han Ji-young, an analyst at KIWOOM Securities, said, “We are still in a phase where doubts remain about the sustainability of the domestic stock market’s rebound,” but added, “It is important to note that the market’s internal resilience is improving.”

At the same time, the KOSDAQ is trading at 827.33, up 0.18 points (0.02%) from the previous trading day. The index opened at 824.77, down 2.38 points (0.29%) from the previous close, and has remained in a range-bound pattern.

By investor type, retail investors recorded net purchases of 221.2 billion won, while foreign and institutional investors posted net sales of 124.0 billion won and 100.1 billion won, respectively.
