Considering medium- to long-term strategic partnerships, including expansion into the U.S. market, equity investments, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A)
[Edaily Reporter YU JIN-HEE ] AdBioTech ( ADBIOTECH Co.,Ltd.(179530)), a company specializing in veterinary antibodies, has partnered with digital healthcare firm M20 to fully launch a new business focused on pet and senior healthcare based on medium- and low-frequency technology. This is a comprehensive collaboration that goes beyond simple distribution to include clinical investment, joint acquisition of intellectual property (IP), equity investment, and mergers and acquisitions (M&A).
ADBIOTECH Co.,Ltd. announced on the 28th that it has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding (MOU) and a joint development agreement with M20 to commercialize products based on medium- and low-frequency composite stimulation technology and expand into domestic and international markets.
Under this agreement, ADBIOTECH Co.,Ltd. has secured exclusive domestic and international distribution rights for M20’s “MayoPet,” a medium-to-low-frequency healthcare device for companion animals. The company plans to rapidly capture the companion animal rehabilitation and healthcare market by leveraging its existing animal biotech network. Furthermore, the two companies have agreed to collaborate closely on the development of additional healthcare products targeting large animals, such as cattle and horses, following their work with companion animals.
The company will also make clinical investments to develop new pipeline products. ADBIOTECH Co.,Ltd. will fully fund the clinical trial costs for products currently under development by M20, including: △ a device to mitigate side effects (muscle loss) associated with glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) class obesity treatments; △ a growth plate stimulator; and △ a device for treating sarcopenia in seniors aged 65 and older. Intellectual property rights, such as patents secured through successful clinical trials, will be jointly owned by both companies.
M20 is a smart healthcare company that owns its proprietary low-to-medium frequency “Core Muscle Booster (CMB)” technology. CMB is an advanced technology that uses medium-frequency waves in the 2,000–6,000 hertz (Hz) range to directly stimulate deep core muscles, thereby strengthening muscles without strenuous exercise or additional weight-bearing.
Its flagship product, the “MayoHome” home care suit, stimulates muscles in 16 key areas of the body, providing both exercise and massage simultaneously. In 2023, it became the first Korean electrical muscle stimulation (EMS) medical device to receive marketing authorization from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA), thereby demonstrating its global safety and efficacy.
In a clinical trial conducted with Professor Jeong Seok-won’s team at Konkuk University Hospital on patients who underwent rotator cuff surgery, the company confirmed an increase in deltoid muscle volume and is currently preparing to publish a paper in an international academic journal (SCI-indexed). Last December, the company participated in the “Johns Hopkins University Global Biotechnology Innovation Summit” and officially unveiled “Myo Solution,” a CMB-based solution for preventing sarcopenia.
Based on their proven CMB technology, the two companies are also set to target the public senior care market. They have established a structure to share the production costs of sarcopenia treatment devices supplied to facilities such as the Gangwon Special Self-Governing Province Senior Welfare Center and to share the resulting profits.
ADBIOTECH Co.,Ltd. stated, “Starting with the exclusive domestic and international distribution of MayoPet, we will gradually expand the scope of our collaboration to include clinical development, production, and entry into global markets such as the United States,” adding, “We will secure a solid future growth engine that encompasses both pet and senior healthcare.”
The official added, “To maximize business synergy, we will also actively explore mid- to long-term collaboration plans, including equity investments and mergers.”
