A JTBC official stated on the 28th, "Production and scheduling are proceeding normally."
Agencies representing many of the cast members appearing in programs currently in production at JTBC also stated, “There have been no changes to the filming schedule at this time,” adding, “We are filming the programs as scheduled.”
Filming for upcoming dramas, whose broadcast schedules have not yet been finalized, is also reportedly proceeding without any changes.
Currently, JTBC is producing numerous variety shows, including “Please Take Care of My Refrigerator,” “Divorce Cooling-Off Camp,” “Knowing Bros,” “War of Love,” and “Talk Show 24 Hours.” Additionally, dramas such as “Golden Digger” starring Kim Hee-ae and Noh Sang-hyun, “Human X Gumiho” starring Jeon Ji-hyun and Ji Chang-wook, and “The Bead of God” starring Ahn Bo-hyun and Lee Sung-min are set to air soon. “Rediscovering Love,” starring Kim So-yeon, Kim Ji-seok, and Yoon Hyun-min—which was previously reported to have halted filming—is said to have resumed production.
Previously, in June, JTBC faced a financial crisis after declaring a default for failing to repay a 20.6 billion won securitized loan upon maturity. The court decided to initiate rehabilitation proceedings for Joongang Holdings and its affiliates—Contentre Joongang, Megabox Joongang, and Joongang P&I—and accepted JTBC’s request to participate in the Autonomous Restructuring Support (ARS) program. JTBC extended the period for deferring the decision on whether to initiate rehabilitation proceedings, pushing back the original deadline of July 30 to August 30.
Subsequently, the Second Reorganization Division of the Seoul Reorganization Court (Presiding Judge Jeong Jun-young, Chief Judge; Presiding Judge Hong Jun-seo) decided to initiate reorganization proceedings for JTBC, and the ARS process was also concluded. JTBC must submit a list of creditors by October 8, and the deadline for filing claims is November 6. The verification of claims will continue until December 4, and a briefing session for interested parties will be held on December 31. The deadline for submitting the final reorganization plan is January 29 of next year.
Following the court’s decision to commence rehabilitation proceedings, a JTBC spokesperson stated, “Going forward, JTBC will approach the statutory rehabilitation process with the utmost diligence,” adding, “Both management and employees will do their utmost to normalize operations through a prompt sale.”
