The tvN variety show “I Am a Boxer,” which concluded last January, was selected as the Gold Award winner in the “Best Original Reality Program Produced in Asia” category at the “ContentAsia Awards 2026,” held in Bangkok, Thailand, on the 27th.
The ContentAsia Awards is a content awards ceremony for the Asia-Pacific region hosted by the global media platform ContentAsia, which recognizes premium content and outstanding creators. “I Am a Boxer” was recognized as a competitive K-sports reality show for its intense portrayal of the participants’ fierce battles, challenges, and journey of growth, all centered around the theme of boxing.

The show also garnered significant attention both domestically and internationally during its broadcast. According to FlixPatrol, a website that tracks global online video service (OTT) content rankings, “I Am a Boxer” ranked 6th worldwide in the Disney+ TV Show category and remained in the global top 10 for five consecutive weeks. This demonstrates that a Korean reality show centered on boxing attracted significant interest from international viewers as well.
Ma Dong-seok participated in the planning and production of “I Am a Boxer.” He enhanced the immersive experience of the sports reality show by capturing not only the intense thrill of competition inherent in boxing but also the participants’ journey of growth as they faced their limits and proved themselves.
Drawing on his experience in the action genre as well as his expertise as an active boxing gym owner and promoter—who holds boxing coach and professional athlete licenses in both the U.S. and South Korea—he planned and produced the boxing content *I Am a Boxer*, thereby showcasing the appeal of the sport.
Ma Dong-seok is currently in the midst of filming the movie “The Roundup 5.” “The Roundup 5” began production last May, and Ma Dong-seok returns as Ma Seok-do, a “monster detective” who has been promoted to team leader of the Metropolitan Investigation Unit. Ma Seok-do is set to launch a new crime-busting operation against Lee Kang-tae, the worst criminal, played by Kim Jae-young.
Ma Dong-seok will also appear in the Netflix film “Extraction 3.” New cast members include Pierce Brosnan, Joe Taslim, Chi Lewis-Parry, and Sienna Agudong. Chris Hemsworth, Idris Elba, and Golshifteh Farahani will also star in the film.
