Set to open in Vietnam on the 4th of next month, “Hope” will hold local promotional events from the 1st to the 2nd of next month. Director Na Hong-jin, along with actors Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, and Jung Ho-yeon, will travel to Vietnam in person to attend various official events—including press conferences, media interviews, a premiere red carpet, and meet-and-greets—to share in-depth insights about the film.
Following this, ahead of its North American release on September 9, the cast will visit major North American cities—including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Austin, and San Francisco—from September 7 to 15 to meet with local audiences. Director Na Hong-jin, Jo In-sung, and Jung Ho-yeon will participate in this tour, which will feature film screenings and Q&A sessions to respond to the enthusiastic interest in “Hope” from North American audiences.
“Hope” has been proving its artistic merit and popularity by receiving consecutive invitations to leading international film festivals. Following invitations to the 79th Cannes Film Festival, the 25th New York Asian Film Festival (NYAFF), the 51st Toronto International Film Festival, and the 74th San Sebastián International Film Festival, the film has now been officially invited to the Panorama section of the 31st Busan International Film Festival, taking place from October 6 to 15, where it is sure to capture the spotlight. Furthermore, the film is set to continue garnering global attention with invitations to events such as the Fantasy Filmfest, Germany’s largest genre film festival.
“Hope” is set to open on September 4 in Vietnam and Taiwan, followed by a North American release on September 9, with releases confirmed worldwide in Canada, Australia, the United Kingdom, Latin America, France, Italy, Germany, Spain, Hong Kong, Japan, Vietnam, and Singapore.
“Hope” is the first feature film in 10 years from director Na Hong-jin, known for “The Chaser” and “The Yellow Sea,” following “The Wailing.” The story begins when “Beom-seok,” the head of the Hopo Port branch office located in the Demilitarized Zone (DMZ), hears reports from local youths about a tiger sighting. As the entire village goes on high alert, he finds himself facing a reality that is hard to believe. The film stars Hwang Jung-min, Jo In-sung, Jung Ho-yeon, Taylor Russell, Cameron Britton, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender.
