[E-Daily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] Alpha Holdings, Inc.(117670)announced on the 1st that it has obtained “ISO 26262” certification—the international standard for automotive functional safety—from the global certification body “DNV.” (Photo courtesy of Alphachips) ISO 26262 is an international functional safety standard established by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) to ensure the quality and safety of finished vehicles and related components. It strictly defines development and management procedures designed to proactively identify and prevent the risk of accidents caused by errors in vehicle-mounted electrical and electronic (E/E) systems, semiconductors, and hardware and software. During this verification process, Alphachips completed certification for △ system-on-chip (SoC) hardware △ functional safety management (FSM) △ and the entire development and verification process. The company explained that this has enabled it to establish a system-on-chip design framework capable of meeting the requirements of global automakers for a full range of vehicles, from internal combustion engine vehicles to hybrids and electric vehicles. Alphachips is currently in business discussions with global automakers. Having established a quality management system by obtaining ISO 9001 certification in 2017, Alphachips will further enhance its competitiveness in securing automotive semiconductor orders with this ISO 26262 certification. The company plans to expand its global order intake and achieve mid- to long-term earnings growth by leveraging its competitive advantage in the domestic and international Design Support House (DSP) market. A company official stated, “ISO 26262 certification requires comprehensive proof of technical capabilities across the entire semiconductor development process and a functional safety management system, making the barriers to market entry high,” adding, “By combining our design expertise and ASIC development experience accumulated over many years with the high reliability of ISO 26262 certification, we have firmly secured our competitiveness in the global market.” The spokesperson further emphasized, “In step with the expansion of the ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and autonomous driving markets, we will create growth opportunities through our differentiated technological capabilities.”
