According to the Integrated Movie Ticket Network, as of 2:37 p.m. on the 2nd, “The Intern” ranked first in advance ticket sales for Korean films, surpassing strong competitors such as “The Assassin(s)” and “Bi-Gwang.”
“The Intern” depicts office life that transcends both generations and job titles, beginning when “Ki-ho” (Choi Min-sik), a “silver intern” with 37 years of experience, joins the company of “Seon-woo” (Han So-hee), who has rapidly risen to become a dark horse in the fashion industry just three years after launching her brand.
According to the distributor, Warner Bros. Korea, the first and second trailers released earlier have collectively surpassed 20 million views, confirming the high level of anticipation. Promotional YouTube content featuring the lead actors has also garnered an explosive response, further fueling the buzz surrounding the film. As of 2 p.m. on the 2nd, “Fairy Jae-hyung,” starring Choi Min-sik, had reached 1.23 million views just four days after its release, while “I Haven’t Prepared a Thing,” starring Han So-hee, had racked up 6.9 million views in just six days.
“The Intern” is directed by Kim Do-young, who previously helmed the film “What If We…?” The cast includes Choi Min-sik and Han So-hee, as well as Kim Jun-han, Ryu Hye-young, Kim Geum-soon, Park Ye-ni, Kim Yo-han, Im Seong-kyun, and Yoon Sang-jeong. The film opens on the 16th.
