Frieze Seoul held a “Gala Dinner” that afternoon at the Byeolmadang Library in Starfield COEX, Gangnam-gu, Seoul. Chairman Jung Yong-jin arrived at around 6:14 p.m. to attend the event, and about seven minutes later, Chairwoman Jung Yoo-kyung also appeared at the venue alongside her husband, Moon Sung-wook, CEO of Shinsegae Co.,Ltd. This marks the first time in five months that Chairman Jeong Yong-jin and Chairwoman Jeong Yu-kyung have appeared together in a public setting, following the concert held on April 29 to celebrate the release of Chairman Jeong Yong-jin’s wife, Han Ji-hee’s, debut album. With the spin-off of SG CO., LTD. bringing the process of separating the group’s affiliates to its final stages, the siblings’ joint appearance at a public event drew significant attention.

Frieze Seoul is part of Frieze, a global art fair that began in the UK in 2003; since 2022, it has been held exclusively in Seoul, Korea—the first and only such event in Asia. More than 125 galleries from over 30 countries around the world are participating.

Shinsegae Co.,Ltd has agreed to serve as the official headline partner for Frieze Seoul for five years starting this year. Shinsegae Co.,Ltd is the first domestic retail company to participate as a headline partner.

It is reported that Chairman Chung Yong-jin personally led the entire negotiation process for this partnership and devoted significant effort to it. Guided by his management philosophy of “creating cultural spaces within everyday life where customers want to linger,” Chairman Chung Yong-jin has pursued retail innovation by developing integrated lifestyle spaces that combine culture, art, gastronomy, and entertainment. Chairwoman Chung Yu-kyung has also demonstrated a special affection for the arts, as evidenced by her attendance at the “Shinsegae Co.,Ltd × Frieze VIP Party” in 2023.
