According to her agency, EDAM Entertainment, on the 4th, IU will release a digital single featuring her new song at 6 p.m. on the 10th via various online music platforms.
This marks IU’s first new release in a year since she released “Bye, Summer” on September 10 of last year. On that day, IU posted a teaser image on her official social media channels featuring a symbol that blends a crescent moon, an orbit, and a mysterious glowing sphere against a retro PC screen, heightening fans’ anticipation for the new release.
Previously, in July, IU canceled her solo concert—scheduled to take place this month at the Main Stadium of the Goyang Sports Complex—due to a worsening of her Eustachian tube dysfunction. She also postponed the release of her sixth studio album, which had been planned to coincide with the concert.
Eustachian tube dysfunction refers to a condition in which the Eustachian tube—which should normally be closed—remains abnormally open. Symptoms may include hearing one’s own voice or breathing sounds loudly, or feeling a stuffy sensation as if the ears are blocked.
At the time, IU posted a lengthy message on her fan platform, stating, “Experts advised that performing in a concert—where I sweat profusely—would be too much of a strain for the time being,” and added, “My heart is heavy, and I’m sorry that I won’t be able to keep my promise to hold the concert.”
She further explained, “I had planned to kick off a nationwide tour—my first in a long time—starting with the Goyang concert,” and noted, “Since the tour was the main promotion for the album, I’m afraid I’ll have to postpone the album’s release date slightly as well.”
It remains unknown whether the new song included in this digital single is a pre-release track from their sixth full-length album. EDAM Entertainment stated, “Specific details about the new song, such as the title and genre, will be revealed at a later date.”
