[Edaily Reporter Park Jung-Soo ] Aroot Co., Ltd.(096690)has completed the recovery of its investment funds following the resale of WOOJIN INC. Aroot Co., Ltd. announced on the 4th that the 24.7 billion won in proceeds from the sale of shares secured through its follow-on investment in WOOJIN INC has been fully deposited. According to the company, this recovery amount represents approximately 88% of Aroot Co., Ltd.’s market capitalization based on the previous day’s closing price. Previously, Curious Partners signed a share purchase agreement (SPA) with Kosstone Asia last month to sell 100% of its stake in WOOJIN INC. The transaction was valued at approximately 300 billion won. After selling its 100% stake in WOOJIN INC—held through its affiliate Woojin Holdings—to Curious Partners in 2024, Aroot Co., Ltd. made a follow-up investment of 15.5 billion won in Curious Voltage III. With the recent resale of the WOOJIN INC stake, the company recovered 24.7 billion won, securing an additional investment return of approximately 9.2 billion won compared to the principal amount. The company plans to use the funds secured to improve its financial structure and invest in new businesses such as semiconductor equipment, digital finance, and recycling. In 2024, Aroot Co., Ltd. entered the semiconductor equipment market by acquiring NSRC, a company specializing in refurbished semiconductor lithography equipment. NSRC has recently been expanding its order portfolio by signing supply contracts for lithography equipment with overseas semiconductor companies in China and Taiwan. Building on its existing POS (Point of Sale) printer business, the company is also expanding its business scope into the digital finance sector. According to the company, it obtained official approval related to stablecoins from overseas regulatory authorities last June through its overseas subsidiaries. Its subsidiary, Aroot Co., Ltd., has been producing recycled fuel and supplying it to power plants since the completion of its factory last year. Aroot Co., Ltd. stated, “We judged that WOOJIN INC had high growth potential, so we proceeded with follow-up investments at the time of the sale, which generated substantial additional investment returns,” adding, “We will use the proceeds to improve our financial structure and accelerate our semiconductor equipment and recycling businesses—as well as new ventures such as stablecoins—through our subsidiaries.”
