[Edaily Starin JOO MEE_HEE Reporter] Writer Jeon Gyeong-cheol, who appeared on tvN’s “You Quiz on the Block” and shared his story of raising his son with severe autism on his own, has passed away.

Jeong Yu-jin, president of the Forum of Experts for Support of Developmental Disabilities, announced the news of the deceased’s passing on the 6th via her social media, stating, “At 7:56 p.m. on Saturday, September 5, 2026, Jeon Gyeong-cheol, ‘Peter Pan’s Dad,’ set out on a long journey.”
Ms. Jeong announced, “In accordance with his wishes, the funeral will be held without a wake,” and prayed for the repose of the deceased’s soul.
Author Jeon was known for raising his 27-year-old son, who has severe autism, on his own. After being diagnosed with terminal liver cancer, he set out to find a place for his son to live, worried that his son would be left alone after he passed away. This journey was chronicled in his essay, “Goodbye, Peter Pan.”
Ms. Jeon’s story garnered significant attention after being featured on MBC’s *True Story Investigators* last March. Subsequently, on the 12th of last month, she appeared on the tvN variety show *You Quiz on the Block*, where she personally shared her heartfelt feelings for her son and her personal story. She also revealed that she had found a home to care for her son following the broadcast of *True Story Investigators*.
Even while battling her illness, Ms. Jeon remained committed to her vision of creating “Neverland,” a community where people with developmental disabilities could live together. She announced plans to donate the royalties and related proceeds from *Hello, Peter Pan*—which tells her and her son’s story—to establish the “Peter Pan Foundation” and build a 24-hour care community for people with developmental disabilities.
It is reported that Ms. Jeon, who dreamed not only of finding a place for her son to live after she was gone but also of creating a care community for other individuals with developmental disabilities and their families, remained committed to that vision until the very end.
