According to the Korean Film Council’s integrated computer network on the 7th, “The Odyssey” drew 698,399 viewers over the three-day weekend from the 4th to the 6th. Its cumulative attendance stands at 10,028,003.
It is the second film released this year to surpass 10 million viewers—following “The Man Who Lives with the King”—and the first foreign film to do so this year. It also became the second film directed by Christopher Nolan to surpass 10 million viewers in South Korea, following “Interstellar.”
Its box office momentum continues even after surpassing the 10 million mark. “The Martian” added nearly 700,000 viewers over the three-day weekend, proving that breaking the 10 million mark was not a one-time achievement but rather the start of a long-term box office run.
“Spider-Man: A Brand New Day” (Spider-Man 4) took second place, drawing 146,678 viewers over the weekend. The cumulative audience for “Spider-Man 4” stands at 8,792,935.
The horror film “Obsession” took third place, drawing 138,442 viewers over the weekend. Its cumulative total now stands at 185,095.
“Gyeongju Journey,” starring Lee Jung-eun, Gong Hyo-jin, Park So-dam, Lee Yeon, and Byun Yo-han, is also enjoying steady, low-key success. Released on the 26th of last month, “Gyeongju Journey” drew 49,417 viewers over the weekend, securing fourth place.
Next, *Bi-Gwang*, starring Ryu Seung-ryong and Ha Ji-won, took fifth place with 40,840 viewers.
It also remains unchallenged in the advance ticket sales rankings. As of 8:11 a.m. on the 7th, “Odyssey” held the top spot with 202,042 tickets sold. In second place was “The Assassin(s),” set to open on the 23rd, with 50,833 tickets sold.
Third place went to *The Intern* (48,637 tickets), which opens on the 16th; fourth place went to *Obsession* (14,776 tickets); and fifth place went to *Hope* (13,003 tickets), which is being re-released in 4DX.
