Scheduled to premiere this October, the MBC variety show “Rookie Coach Kim Yeon-koung 2” chronicles the grueling and passionate journey of “veteran coach” Kim Yeon-koung and the “Victory Wonder Dogs” as they strive to establish their team.
Previously, Season 1 of “Rookie Director Kim Yeon-koung” received overwhelming love from viewers as it depicted the process by which “Volleyball Emperor” Kim Yeon-koung, now a coach, transformed a group of underdog players—who had gathered to seize another chance—into a single team called the “Victory Wonder Dogs.” The final episode recorded a viewership rating of 5.9% (Nielsen Korea/nationwide households), and at the 2025 MBC “Broadcast Entertainment Awards,” Kim Yeon-kyung won the Newcomer Award, along with awards for Best Teamwork, Best Couple, Entertainer of the Year, and Variety Program of the Year. The show also won the Variety Program Award in the Broadcasting category at the “62nd Baeksang Arts Awards.”
