[E-Daily Reporter Park Jung-Soo ] Kweather Co., Ltd.(068100)is setting out to build a “weather data economy” ecosystem where individuals can directly generate weather data and receive compensation. Weather Data Token Generator “Wellbian” Kweather Co., Ltd., a weather big data platform company, announced on the 8th that it will launch the weather data token generator “Wellbian” on the 15th. The company plans to establish a system that collects and verifies weather data generated by individuals through Wellbian and rewards them with digital assets based on the value of the data. Wellbian is a network device that measures climate and environmental data, including indoor temperature and humidity, as well as fine dust, ultrafine dust, carbon dioxide, and volatile organic compounds (VOCs). When a purchaser installs the device in their home or business premises, they participate as a provider, supplying Kweather Co., Ltd. with data measured in that area. The core structure consists of five stages: data measurement, generation, verification, valuation, and compensation. The collected data undergoes reliability verification and is then evaluated for value based on its type, quality, and installation location. Participants are paid a fixed amount of digital assets each month as compensation. The reward system is built on the XRP Ledger (XRPL). Kweather Co., Ltd. plans to utilize a blockchain-based Decentralized Physical Infrastructure Network (DePIN) approach to create a structure where the data collection network expands as the number of participants grows. The vision is to secure high-density data at the city and individual living space levels—data that was previously difficult to obtain using existing public observation networks alone. The company plans to first launch indoor products, then expand its product line to include outdoor weather observation equipment, and eventually broaden its scope to include radar and satellites. Wellbian will officially launch on the 15th, with global pre-orders open until noon on the 14th. Those who pre-order will have priority access to purchase the product on the day of launch. The collected data will be utilized in climate and environmental services such as Kweather Co., Ltd.’s “Weather AI Factory.” The company plans to process the data through AI analysis and then supply it to various industries, including AI weather forecasting, autonomous driving, smart cities, energy, logistics, insurance, and robotics. Kim Dong-sik, CEO of Kweather Co., Ltd., stated, “The weather data token generator marks the beginning of a Web3-based virtuous cycle ecosystem where individuals directly produce weather data to manage their health while simultaneously creating economic value.” He added, “We will build an economy where the data produced by participants is utilized across various industries, and that value is then returned to the data producers as compensation.”
