SamsungElectronics announced on the 10th that it has established a “dedicated EHS heat pump training center” at the CS CORPORATION Academy in Suwon, Gyeonggi Province. This initiative aims to enhance the on-site response capabilities of B2B partners and installation engineers, as the government pushes to deploy 3.5 million high-efficiency heat pumps by 2035 to achieve carbon neutrality.
EHS heat pumps are integrated solutions that utilize natural ambient air heat and electricity to provide indoor heating, cooling, and hot water. Since actual performance depends not only on product efficiency but also on the quality of piping systems tailored to residential environments, as well as the standards of installation and maintenance, expertise in installation and service is crucial.
The newly established training facility features an environment replicating actual installation sites, including: △ alternating-cycle and thermal storage water tanks with hot water control kits; △ hot water manifolds for underfloor heating; △ piping systems; and △ fan coil units (FCUs). Trainees can practice the entire process, from water distribution system construction and product installation to commissioning and service inspections using “HASS (Home Appliances Smart Service),” an AI-based smart diagnostic program for home appliances.
The training is led by SamsungElectronics’ in-house EHS specialists and external experts in the boiler and water distribution fields. Earlier this past April, SamsungElectronics also conducted training on thermal storage systems—which convert and store surplus solar power as thermal energy—for approximately 200 installation engineers in the Jeju region.
SamsungElectronics operates specialized heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) training programs not only in Korea but also in the Netherlands, the United States, and the United Kingdom.
Lim Seong-taek, Executive Vice President of SamsungElectronics’ DA Business Division, stated, “Heat pumps are a key solution for achieving high-efficiency, eco-friendly heating, so it is crucial to build professional capabilities in installation, commissioning, and service.” He added, “Following the establishment of a domestic production base, we will continue to expand our specialized training and service infrastructure to actively support the widespread adoption of electric heating in Korea.”
Meanwhile, SamsungElectronics plans to establish a domestic production line for EHS heat pump boilers at its Gwangju plant in Buk-gu, Gwangju Metropolitan City, South Jeolla Province, and is scheduled to begin full-scale mass production at the end of this month.
