[Edaily Reporter SOYEON KIM ] Management and labor at SK hynix have reached a tentative agreement to adjust the proportion of treasury stock in the Profit Sharing (PS) bonus—a performance-based incentive—from 60% to 50%. This new agreement was reached after both sides resumed negotiations following the rejection of a previous tentative agreement. They aim to finalize the deal before Chuseok.

On the 10th, SK hynix announced that management and the labor union had reached a revised tentative agreement containing these terms on the 9th. Following an extraordinary delegates’ meeting held by the union today, a general vote is scheduled to take place over two days, on the 15th and 16th.

The agreement includes an adjustment to the basic payment ratio for performance bonuses, changing it from the previous 40% cash and 60% stock to 50% cash and 50% stock. The company explained that it has strengthened employees’ choice by allowing them to select their stock allocation ratio in 10% increments, ranging from 50% to a maximum of 100%, based on their preference.

To minimize any confusion arising from the change in the performance bonus payment method, the company decided to make an advance payment of the portion of last year’s performance bonus—calculated based on last year’s performance—that had been deferred for payment next year and the year after.

Under the housing loan system, eligibility for additional support beyond the basic assistance was previously limited to “married households,” but the company has decided to include “single-parent households” as well to help more employees balance work and family life.

Previously, management and labor had reached a tentative agreement last month centered on a 6.3% wage increase and the payment of 40% of the performance bonus in cash and 60% in company stock. However, on the 25th of last month, the SK hynix full-time (production) workers’ union held an electronic vote on the tentative collective bargaining agreement, which was rejected with 50.08% voting against it. The margin between the “yes” and “no” votes was a mere 25 votes.
