[Edaily Reporter kim mi-kyung ] Lee Jun-seok, a lawmaker from the Reform Party, revealed his close friendship with Kim Dong-kwan, Vice Chairman of #Hanwha Group, whom he met as a senior and junior, respectively, during his time at Harvard University. He went on to say that if it were up to him, he would invest in Hanwha stock, specifically mentioning HANWHA AEROSPACE.

In the video titled “Lee Jun-seok X Jeon In-gu: Stocks, Economy, Politics, and Sandwiches,” released on his YouTube channel on the 11th, Rep. Lee reminisced about his time at Harvard University while discussing current issues in the stock market and the economy with Jeon In-gu, director of the Jeon In-gu Economic Research Institute. During this discussion, he shared the story of his connection with Vice Chairman Kim. Rep. Lee and Vice Chairman Kim were one year apart at Harvard; Rep. Lee majored in computer science and economics, while Vice Chairman Kim majored in political science.

Speaking about Vice Chairman Kim, who was a year his senior, Representative Lee shared an anecdote: “Since Dong-gwan hyung was a year ahead of me, we went out drinking a lot,” adding that Vice Chairman Kim would often pay for the expensive PC café fees so they could play games together.

Rep. Lee also spoke highly of Vice Chairman Kim’s business acumen. “If it were me, I’d go all-in on Hanwha stock,” he said, adding, “He’s the smartest chaebol executive I’ve ever met.” He continued, “I don’t buy domestic stocks because lawmakers aren’t allowed to,” but added, “If I could, I’d go all-in on Hanwha stock.”

When Director Jeon asked if he was referring to a specific stock among Hanwha’s affiliates, Rep. Lee replied, “Well, HANWHA AEROSPACE, of course.”

He also shared his views on Hanwha Group’s management style and succession process. “It seems that at Hanwha, involving family members in management from a young age is fundamental,” he said, adding, “In that family, the three brothers grow in stature in order of age.” Recalling his childhood, he praised Hanwha Group’s stable management system, saying, “I was completely under my older brother’s spell, and the family hierarchy was very clear.”

Regarding Vice Chairman Kim’s personal qualities, he remarked, “He has excellent manners and speaks English very well.” Representative Lee also mentioned the English proficiency of other heads of major domestic conglomerates. Regarding SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won, he said, “His English seems optimized for business,” and regarding HD HYUNDAI Chairman Jeong Ki-sun, whom he met recently, he noted, “He spoke British English,” highly praising his English skills.
