This marks the first time a subunit has been launched from ZEROBASEONE, which debuted in July 2023. The unit name “EMP” is derived from “Electro Magnetic Pulse.” It embodies their aspiration to “create a space where only the two of their music exists, just as all surrounding sounds are cut off the moment an EMP strikes.” The name “EMP” is also a combination of the “E” from “Extra” (meaning “beyond the ordinary”) and the initials “M” and “P” from the English names of Seok Matthew and Park Geon-wook. Wake One stated, “Please look forward to the synergy between the two members and the musical world they’ve produced themselves.”
