[Edaily Reporter Lee So-Hyun ] SOOP(067160)is planning to gradually consolidate its major business hubs around its new Pangyo headquarters. The plan goes beyond a simple relocation of office space; it aims to reorganize the collaborative structure among management, technology, and business units as well as key affiliates, and to enhance the efficiency of service operations by consolidating headquarters and research and development (R&D) functions in one location.

SOOP plans to purchase the land and building of GB2-C, located at 25 Pangyo-ro 256beon-gil, Bundang-gu, Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do, for 131.5 billion won and use it as its headquarters and R&D center. The company will begin moving in and reorganizing its departments sequentially starting in the fourth quarter of this year, with the integration of its major operational hubs scheduled to be completed by the first quarter of 2028.

Bringing
Scattered Teams Under One Roof… Restructuring for Collaboration

The focus of this integration is on inter-organizational connectivity rather than the physical space itself. While SOOP’s functional teams have operated based on their respective expertise during service operations and business expansion, the company determined that bringing key organizations together would accelerate communication and decision-making on a project-by-project basis.

A live-streaming platform operates on a structure where various functions—such as technology development, content operations, streamer support, advertising, e-commerce, and global business—interlock and function simultaneously. Collaboration between departments is crucial as requirements arising from service planning and operations lead to technology development, which is then applied to the actual service.

SOOP believes that this collaborative process will become more organic once its management, technology, and business organizations, along with its major affiliates, operate with Pangyo as their central hub.

Merging
Headquarters and R&D Center… Accelerating Service Improvements

Another key aspect of this integration is that the headquarters and R&D center will be housed under one roof. This will enable the exchange of feedback between service planning, technology development, and operations teams in a more immediate and collaborative environment.

The process of conveying user and streamer feedback to the technical team—and translating it into actual feature improvements or new service development—will also become significantly faster.

In particular, given the nature of the platform industry—where collaboration between technology, content, and business divisions is crucial—the company expects that physically placing key functions in close proximity will help enhance service quality and execution capabilities.

Phased Relocation Starting in the Fourth Quarter… Maintaining Operational Continuity

SOOP will proceed with the relocation in phases starting in the fourth quarter of this year, taking into account each organization’s schedule and specific work characteristics. Rather than moving all organizations at once, the company will relocate them sequentially to minimize the impact on service operations.

The company plans to maintain continuity in existing service operations throughout the relocation process and, following the integration, focus on establishing a collaborative framework among organizations centered on the Pangyo hub.

A SOOP official stated, “Through this integration, we will establish Pangyo as the central hub for our management, technology, and business organizations, and strengthen the operational foundation for our services and business as a whole in the medium to long term.”
