The session was designed to help participants manage stress arising from workplace life and look after their own mental health as well as that of those around them. In the morning, a meditation session was held under the theme “Office Mental Care.” Participants learned methods to manage stress arising from work and daily life and to enhance their psychological resilience.
In the afternoon, a “Suicide Prevention Lifeguard Training” session was held. The training focused on identifying verbal, behavioral, and situational signs of suicide risk that may appear in one’s surroundings and learning how to respond appropriately in crisis situations.
AUSTEM CO.,LTD had previously signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Gangseo-gu Mental Health and Welfare Center in March to operate the “Office Workers’ Smile Project.” At that time, Gangseo-gu selected AUSTEM CO.,LTD, NEXENTIRE, HANDOK Inc., and the Gangseo-gu Facility Management Corporation as participating companies following a review of firms that had expressed interest in the workplace mental health promotion program.
The “Worker Smile Project” is an initiative designed to help workers alleviate stress, achieve emotional stability, and return to their normal daily lives. A key feature of the project is that it enables workers—who often find it difficult to access external mental health services due to constraints such as work hours—to receive screenings, counseling, and education directly at their workplace. Participating companies that successfully implement the project and meet certain requirements will also be awarded “Mental Health-Friendly Company” certification.
Through this project, AUSTEM CO.,LTD is offering its employees online mental health screenings and “Maum Suda,” a one-on-one counseling program led by mental health professionals.
The company also offers psychological counseling and experiential programs to alleviate work-related stress. These include the “Stress Healing Program,” where participants make their own soap and perfume, as well as the Temperament and Character Inventory (TCI) to assess individual temperament and personality traits.
AUSTEM CO.,LTD plans to continue these programs in the future so that employees can assess their mental health and seek professional help when necessary.
An AUSTEM CO.,LTD official stated, “To ensure a healthy daily life and work engagement for employees, it is important to take care of not only physical health but also mental health,” adding, “Since creating an environment where employees can work healthily and happily is the foundation of a healthy organizational culture, we will continue to consistently offer these related welfare programs.”
