According to his agencies, Star Road Company and Kenvers, on the 18th, Choi Daniel will play the role of Kwang-soo, a hair designer, in JTBC’s new Saturday-Sunday drama *Fly High, Butterfly*, which premieres on the 19th. He is a character who prioritizes his own vision of “beauty” over his clients’ requests, possessing strong self-confidence and a unique way of thinking.
“Fly High, Butterfly” is a drama set in a hair salon that depicts the stories of clients, hairstylists, and interns. Alongside Choi Daniel, Kim Hyang-gi, Oh Yoon-ah, Shim Eun-woo, Park Jung-woo, Moon Tae-yu, and Kim Ga-hee appear as hairstylists with distinct personalities.
Choi Daniel cited writer Park Yeon-seon’s warm perspective as the reason for choosing the project. “I was deeply impressed by the understanding and attitude toward life embedded in the script,” he said, adding, “I hope this drama will be a source of strength and hope for many people.”
Director Kim Da-ye, who is helming the production, commented on Choi Daniel’s performance, saying, “He naturally portrayed both excessive self-love and unwavering self-confidence.” She explained, “Rather than trying to be funny on purpose, he seriously explored Gwang-soo’s thoughts, bringing out the character’s unique charm.”
“Fly High, Butterfly” is written by Park Yeon-seon, the writer behind “Youth Era” and “Love Era,” and co-directed by Kim Da-ye and Kim Bo-kyung. The drama is characterized by its focus on the familiar setting of a hair salon, where the stories and relationships of the characters unfold.
