According to DaewooEngineering&Construction on the 22nd, the company is rapidly expanding its business scope to include the Middle East, Europe, and emerging Asian Shinhung markets with high growth potential, driven by a combination of aggressive overseas sales and practical business strategies.

Recently, the company has been achieving concrete results through a series of meetings with key Vietnamese officials. On the 8th, Chairman Jeong met with Phu Dai Tang, Mayor of Hanoi, Vietnam, who was visiting South Korea, to discuss business operations in Vietnam and future cooperation plans. At the meeting, he stated, “Based on the successful business experience we have accumulated in Vietnam over the past 30 years, we plan to further enhance the quality of the Star Lake New Town project,” adding, “Moving forward, we will continue to expand our investments in various sectors—including new towns, energy, and infrastructure—based on DaewooEngineering&Construction’s accumulated experience and achievements in Vietnam.”

Hanoi Mayor Phu Dai Tang also pledged administrative support, including land compensation for the Star Lake project site and the relocation of government agencies. He emphasized that DaewooEngineering&Construction’s technical expertise is essential for Hanoi’s future and expressed his willingness to actively cooperate.

On the 26th of last month, DaewooEngineering&Construction held an exclusive one-on-one meeting—the only such meeting among domestic construction companies—with Le May Hung, Vietnam’s Minister of Industry and Trade, who was visiting South Korea. As the lead contractor for the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant in the Czech Republic, DaewooEngineering&Construction strongly conveyed its willingness to participate in key energy projects in Vietnam—including the Ninh Thuan Nuclear Power Plant and LNG terminals—based on its proven technical capabilities.

DaewooEngineering&Construction explained, “Vietnam is a key market where opportunities for large-scale energy projects are opening up, as the country has recently formalized plans to introduce new nuclear power plants, including the Ninh Thuan project,” adding, “In nuclear power and energy infrastructure projects—which require massive investment and long-term execution—the trust of the government and the client is just as crucial to winning contracts as outstanding technical capabilities.”

Indonesia is also a key strategic market for DaewooEngineering&Construction’s future. Since entering the market in 1986, the company has successfully executed seven projects totaling $540 million over the past 40 years, thereby establishing a strong local presence.

Last July, Chairman Jeong personally visited Jakarta, Indonesia, to discuss cooperation strategies regarding future growth initiatives with government and political figures, as well as representatives from major development companies. In particular, he introduced DaewooEngineering&Construction’s construction expertise in LNG plants and energy infrastructure and proposed an “all-in-one integrated development” model that combines power generation infrastructure—such as SMRs (small modular reactors), LNG terminals, and power plants—with gigawatt (GW)-class artificial intelligence (AI) data centers. Indonesian government officials also expressed their willingness to actively support and cooperate on this project.

In May of last year, the company paid a courtesy call on Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto to convey DaewooEngineering&Construction’s commitment to expanding its local operations. In April of this year, during an Korea-Indonesia economic cooperation event held in conjunction with President Prabowo’s visit to South Korea, the company signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with Sinarmas Land and the Korea Overseas Infrastructure and Urban Development Corporation (KOID) for the development of the BSD New City.

The strategy is to use the Dukovany Nuclear Power Plant project in the Czech Republic as a springboard to enhance competitiveness in securing contracts not only in Europe and the Middle East but also in new nuclear power markets such as Southeast Asia. The company’s business scope is not limited to large-scale nuclear power plants. It is expanding its business portfolio into next-generation nuclear sectors such as SMRs and nuclear decommissioning. It also plans to enter converged businesses that combine energy with high-tech industries, such as LNG, power generation infrastructure, and AI data centers. Through these efforts, the company aims to secure new growth engines in the global energy infrastructure market.

A DaewooEngineering&Construction official stated, “While expanding our overseas business footprint, we will establish ourselves as a leader in the global energy market by completing the nuclear value chain—ranging from large-scale nuclear power plants to SMRs and nuclear decommissioning.” The official added, “We plan to build this through innovative business models that link the power demand of energy infrastructure, such as LNG plants, with that of AI data centers.”
