[Edaily Marketin, Reporter Song Seung-Hyeon ] An average of 70 new titles are released daily on Steam, the global game distribution platform. Last year alone, 21,331 titles flooded the market. Even for indie developers with strong development capabilities, it is not easy to reach users amid this volume. In South Korea, there were virtually no full-time publishers to bridge this gap. This is the reason why Redbrick House secured two rounds of investment just two months after its founding.

According to the venture capital (VC) industry on the 26th, Red Brick House secured financial investment from Kakao Ventures, Devsisters Ventures, SmartStudy Ventures, Main Street Ventures, and Zion Investment. Previously, in July, it received a strategic investment from KOSDAQ-listed company Wemade Max. The investment amounts for both rounds were not disclosed.

Red Brick House is a publisher specializing in indie games that was established last June. Co-CEOs Kim Hyuk-jin and Hong Ji-cheol previously worked together at Neowiz’s Investment Division, where they led efforts to discover and invest in global indie games, as well as mergers and acquisitions (M&A) and publishing. Son Myeon-seok, CEO of Wemade Max, praised them, stating, “While at Neowiz, they identified major indie games early on—such as ‘Skull,’ which surpassed 2 million units in cumulative global sales, and ‘San Nabi,’ which sold over 1 million units—and successfully led investment and global publishing efforts for these titles.”

A notable point is that Zion Investment is included among the financial investors. Zion Investment is a venture capital firm established in 2009 by GameOn, a subsidiary of Neowiz, and manages a venture fund totaling 108 billion won. This structure represents a Neowiz-affiliated VC providing funding to a company founded by former Neowiz employees.

Red Brick House is targeting a gap in the domestic indie publishing market. While specialized publishers such as Devolver Digital, Hooded Horse, and Annapurna Interactive have established themselves overseas, there were no comparable full-time players in Korea. While Neowiz has effectively served as the sole outlet since 2018, launching titles such as “Skull,” “San Nabi,” and “Shape of Dreams,” it is currently restructuring its organization to transition into a global distributor following the release of “P’s Lie.”

Its business model is benchmarked against Hooded Horse’s approach. Rather than providing funding only after a game is completed, it establishes relationships with developers from the early stages of development, when uncertainty is high. By jointly evaluating market potential and user feedback to enhance the game’s quality, it helps design the launch timing and platforms, and provides support ranging from building a pre-launch community to global marketing, service operations, and securing investment. Chinese gaming industry experts with experience in obtaining publishing licenses and entering local markets have also joined the team to assist with expansion into the Greater China market.

The first title to be published is *Void Diver: Escape from the Abyss*, currently in development by Studio Nemo, a subsidiary of RoadComplete. A 2.5D pixel-art extraction RPG, it surpassed 250,000 wishlist entries during its participation in the Steam Next Fest last June. It is scheduled for official release in January of next year. In addition, the company has secured domestic and international projects, including a roguelike shooter, a cooperative extraction game, and an action-adventure title, though specific titles have not been disclosed.
