SamsungElectronics(005930)[Edaily Reporter Shin Yeong-bin ] Samsung Electronics’ foldable smartphones, the “Galaxy Z Fold8” and “Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra,” ranked first in the foldable category in evaluations by leading consumer magazines in five major European countries.

According to SamsungElectronics on the 27th, the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra ranked among the top in foldable smartphone evaluations conducted by Italy’s “Altroconsumo,” Spain’s “OCU,” Portugal’s “Deco Proteste,” the Netherlands’ “Consumentenbond,” and Belgium’s “Test-Achats.”

In the Netherlands and Belgium, the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra and the Galaxy Z Fold8 tied for first place. In Italy, Spain, and Portugal, the Galaxy Z Fold8 took first place with a score of 81, while the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra ranked second with a score of 80.

These consumer magazines are non-commercial, independent organizations that evaluate product performance, durability, and ease of use through their own laboratory tests.

The Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra also received the “Best of Test” award, given to products that receive the highest ratings in four countries: Italy, Spain, Portugal, and Belgium.

SamsungElectronics had previously seen the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra take first place and the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Flip8 rank among the top in a foldable phone evaluation by the U.S. consumer magazine “Consumer Reports.”

Initial sales are also off to a strong start. According to market research firm Counterpoint, global sales of the Z8 series during the first two weeks after launch increased by 8% compared to the previous Z7 series. In particular, the Galaxy Z Fold8 accounted for approximately 57% of Z8 series sales during this period.

SamsungElectronics also stated that sales growth is continuing in key regions. In the U.S., initial sales of the Galaxy Z Fold8 and Z Fold8 Ultra were 30% higher than those of its predecessor, the Z Fold7. In Europe, combined sales of the two models since their launch have increased by 50% compared to the previous generation.

A SamsungElectronics spokesperson explained, “Following the U.S., the Galaxy Z8 series has also received high marks in key European consumer reviews, demonstrating the product’s competitiveness in the global foldable market.”
