[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] #HANPASS CO.,Ltd., a domestic financial platform company serving foreign residents, is completely revamping its mobile app and setting out to transform itself into a comprehensive “super app” for foreigners living in Korea. The company aims to go beyond its existing remittance-focused services and expand its identity into a lifestyle platform that encompasses all aspects of foreigners’ stays and daily lives in Korea. (Photo courtesy of HANPASS CO.,Ltd.) HANPASS CO.,Ltd. announced the mobile service overhaul, centered on these changes, on the 15th. While the majority of the approximately 30 companies currently holding domestic small-amount international money transfer licenses rely on a single international money transfer fee model, HANPASS CO.,Ltd. has led the market by securing one in three foreigners residing in Korea as members, leveraging its competitive fees and user-friendly experience. Through this overhaul, HANPASS CO.,Ltd. has significantly restructured its app ecosystem around two pillars: “financial services” and “lifestyle-oriented services.” First, in the financial sector, HANPASS CO.,Ltd. has significantly enhanced its core services—including international and domestic money transfers—as well as its mobile wallet and HANPASS CO.,Ltd. features. In particular, based on collaborations with major financial institutions and affiliates, the company plans to launch specialized financial solutions—such as “credit loans exclusively for foreign residents”—tailored to foreign residents in Korea in the near future. In the lifestyle services sector, the focus has been on resolving the typical inconveniences foreigners face while living in Korea, such as transportation, employment, and dining. The app integrates a wide range of features into a single platform, including transportation conveniences like hailing taxis, booking intercity buses and KTX tickets, and reloading transit cards; a “job matching service” that connects companies with foreign talent; and a “grocery commerce” feature that allows users to easily purchase ingredients from their home countries. Above all, HANPASS CO.,Ltd. supports all these features and services in over 20 languages. The aim is to help foreign residents in Korea enjoy a more convenient and stable daily life without language barriers. Furthermore, HANPASS CO.,Ltd. plans to proactively prepare for the upcoming era of stablecoins while gradually expanding its lifestyle services for foreigners in line with its long-term roadmap. The company also envisions rolling out specialized foreign exchange financial services that cater not only to foreigners but also to Korean nationals. Im Sang-taek, HANPASS CO.,Ltd.’s Chief Strategy Officer (CSO), who oversaw this app redesign and platform strategy project, stated, “This will serve as a turning point for HANPASS CO.,Ltd.—which has grown primarily through international money transfers—to firmly establish itself as an ‘essential super app’ that supports all aspects of daily life for foreigners residing in Korea,” he said. “Going forward, by preparing for the introduction of stablecoins and enhancing foreign exchange services for both Koreans and foreigners, we will expand into a global comprehensive foreign exchange platform that drives innovation across finance and daily life.”
