[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] SK hynix is launching the “Original Mind Project,” a corporate promotional campaign based on records spanning its 43-year history since its founding, and is unveiling a related sculpture to the public.

According to SK hynix on the 15th, this project is notable for the creation of three sculptures using newspaper articles covering the company’s growth, technological development, and crises from 1983 to 2026. Instead of utilizing digital technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI), the entire production process was carried out by hand. The company explained that it expressed its commitment to technological development—maintained even amid technological advancements and changes in the business environment—through the theme of “Beginner’s Mind.”

The first piece is a globe created using approximately 10,000 pieces of newspaper clippings. It incorporates not only records of the company’s growth and technological innovation but also accounts of past management crises, such as creditor-led restructuring and unpaid leave. Articles related to each country were placed at their corresponding locations on the globe, and the completed work weighs about 60 kg. Although the initial plan was to use about 4,000 pieces of newspaper clippings, the scale of the project expanded during the production process.

The second artwork is a glass semiconductor that visualizes the 16-layer stacked structure of High Bandwidth Memory (HBM). Records of 43 years of technological development were arranged across 16 transparent glass panels to create a single semiconductor shape visible from a specific angle. The tolerance between the glass and Acryl Inc. structures was adjusted to 0.15 mm, and the total weight, including the base, is approximately 800 kg. Since the overall shape changes depending on the angle of each glass panel and the placement of the article fragments, the team underwent multiple rounds of prototyping and overlay testing.

The final piece is a sculpture that three-dimensionally embodies the word “Do” from SK hynix’s brand slogan, “We Do Technology.” Measuring 1,500 mm wide by 970 mm tall and weighing approximately 30 kg, it was crafted in a continuous, Möbius strip-like form. It symbolizes the small, repeated actions and improvements inherent in the technology development process.

SK hynix unveiled these works through newspaper advertisements on August 27, September 22, and October 14, respectively. From October 24 through November 1, the three physical sculptures will be on display in the South Atrium on the third basement level of the IFC Mall in Yeouido, Seoul. The exhibition is open to the public and will feature interactive activities where visitors can write down their own “original aspirations,” as well as giveaways of commemorative items.

Shin Kyung-bae, TL at SK hynix, stated, “Although technology and the environment have constantly changed over the past 43 years, we wanted to showcase the company’s essence—that our attitude toward technology has remained unchanged.” He added, “Through this campaign, we hope to convey the mindset with which we intend to move forward.”
