[Edaily Reporter Kim Hyun-ah ] SKTelecom(017670)uses artificial intelligence (AI) to make calls directly, while Kakao(035720)utilizes #KakaoTalk. KTCorporation integrates AI with its existing platforms. “Everyone’s AI,” a free AI service for all citizens currently under development by these three companies, entered a closed beta test on the 16th. Each company will evaluate the service’s performance and stability in preparation for its official launch in December.

According to the information technology (IT) industry on the 16th, SKTelecom began a closed beta test (CBT) that day for government officials and a customer advisory panel. Kakao is reportedly conducting tests for government officials and consortium participants, while KT is testing with consortium affiliates. The companies did not disclose specific operational details, such as the scale or duration of the tests.

“AI for All” is a project promoted by the Ministry of Science and ICT to enhance public access to AI. The goal is to start with a general-purpose AI chatbot that can be used without cost or usage limits and expand it into an AI agent that handles everyday tasks such as applying for public services and making reservations.

SKTelecom Tests “Call on Your Behalf,” Where AI Makes Calls Directly
SKTelecom has structured its services into three areas: general-purpose AI chatbots, public Agent AI, and specialized AI services. In this test, the company is focusing on evaluating the performance of its specialized service,
“Call on Your Behalf.”

“Call on Your Behalf” is a feature where, when a user requests a specific task, the AI identifies the user’s intent, calls the relevant business or facility directly, and relays the confirmed information. This test will evaluate scenarios such as making restaurant reservations, checking whether a venue allows outside alcohol, and confirming the availability of high chairs at public tennis courts. It is a method where the AI makes phone calls to verify practical information that is difficult to find through internet searches alone.

“Call on My Behalf” utilizes SKTelecom’s AI model, “A.X K2.” The test will verify whether the AI accurately understands user requests, engages in conversation with the person on the other end of the line to obtain necessary information, and properly conveys the verified details.

SKTelecom plans to refine key features and everyday-life scenarios based on the test results and user feedback. Following the official launch, the company intends to expand the service so that users can delegate tasks to the AI and check the results through various channels, including phone calls, text messages, the web, and apps.
Kakao
to Use
KakaoTalk; KTCorporation to Integrate AI with Existing Platforms
Kakao will use
KakaoTalk
as its primary access point. The company is developing the service so that users can apply for public services, make reservations, and complete payments solely through conversation, without installing a separate AI app. Beta testing will be conducted with government officials and consortium participants.

KTCorporation is pursuing its “Ieum Inside” strategy, which integrates AI into its portal Daum and existing services such as Danawa, Musinsa, and Zigbang. It is also planning lifestyle-oriented features, such as notifications and reservations for vehicle inspections. However, it remains unclear whether individual platform integration features will be provided during this beta test. The test will be conducted with consortium member companies.

Based on the results of the beta test, the three consortia plan to refine their services and aim for an official launch in December. Following the official launch, the plan is to make the AI available to all citizens without any cost or usage restrictions.
