LGELECTRONICS announced on the 19th that it recently unveiled a brand heritage video titled “Life Asks, LG Answers” on an outdoor billboard in Times Square, New York.

This video promotes the “Zero Labor Home” vision—the goal of LGELECTRONICS’ home appliance business to help customers break free from household chores and focus on more meaningful activities. It covers everything from the historical evolution of home appliances to future strategies for expansion into the physical AI sector, including AI homes and home robots.

The video begins with the history of innovation in laundry appliances. It introduces key products ranging from the “Swan Washing Machine (WP-181)”—Korea’s first washing machine, released in 1969—to the “LG Twin Wash,” launched in 2015, and the “LG WashTower,” unveiled in 2020.

The Twin Wash combines a compact top-loading washer beneath a front-loading drum washer, allowing users to wash different types of laundry simultaneously. The Wash Tower is a product that integrates a washer and dryer into a single unit, maximizing space efficiency.

The exhibition also highlights the evolution of refrigerators. Starting with the “Eunpyo Refrigerator” in 1965, it showcases features such as “Magic Space,” which allows users to retrieve food without opening the entire door, and “KnockOn” technology, which lets users check the contents by tapping on the door. Products featuring KnockOn have surpassed cumulative sales of 5.3 million units in the 10 years since their launch—equivalent to one unit sold every minute.

The video also captures the evolution of home appliance design. It showcases everything from 1980s refrigerators finished with wood to the “LG Objet Collection,” which allows customers to choose colors and materials, and “SKS,” an ultra-premium built-in appliance brand designed to harmonize with any space.

LGELECTRONICS is expanding the core component technologies it has accumulated in home appliances into the robotics field. The video also highlights the core component technologies that have served as the foundation for product innovation. Beginning with the development of a motor for electric fans in 1962, the company has continued to advance technologies such as the Inverter DD Motor and the AI DD Motor. Recently, leveraging these motor and control technologies, LGELECTRONICS developed “LG AXIUM,” an actuator that functions as a robot’s joint.

The video also traces the evolution of the company’s robotics business. Beginning with Korea’s first educational robot in 1983, the company introduced a robot vacuum in 2003 and the service robot “LG CLOi” in 2018. This year, with the unveiling of the home robot “LG CLOiD,” the company presented a vision of the future AI home where robots perform household chores.

Following its release in New York, LGELECTRONICS plans to air the 160-second video on digital billboards in London’s Piccadilly Circus and on major over-the-top (OTT) platforms. A 30-second edited version will also be released depending on the media outlet.

Ryu Ju-hyun, Head of HS Marketing Communications at LGELECTRONICS, said, “We will share LGELECTRONICS’ heritage of innovation—driven by a commitment to enhancing customers’ lives—and our vision for the future with global customers, while continuing to convey our distinctive brand value.”
