[Edaily Reporter kyoungeun kim ] Rechargeable battery-related stocks are all showing gains during trading on the 19th.
According to MP Doctor, as of 10:26 a.m. today, SAMSUNG SDI CO.,LTD.(006400)is trading at 575,000 won, up 45,000 won (+8.49%) from the previous trading day; LG Energy Solution(373220)is trading at 423,500 won, up 20,500 won (+5.09%); and L&F(066970)is trading at 97,900 won, up 4,200 won (+4.48%).
The rise in stock prices is attributed to expectations of spillover benefits for domestic rechargeable battery companies, as reports from a Taiwanese tech media outlet—which suggest that most Chinese energy storage system (ESS) manufacturers are expected to withdraw from their U.S. operations this year—spread rapidly across domestic stock communities and portal stock discussion forums, stimulating investor sentiment.
The report drew significant market attention as it came amid the U.S. strengthening its “decoupling from China” policy by imposing additional tariffs on Chinese batteries and implementing supply chain regulations.
Prospects for medium- to long-term growth in ESS demand are also fueling this rally. In a recent report, Yoo Ji-woong, an analyst at Daol Investment & Securities, noted, “Power demand from U.S. AI data centers is projected to triple by 2030,” adding, “As bottlenecks in the supply of power generation facilities persist, the strategic importance of ESS for the early operation of data centers is growing.”
