Following the completion of technology transfer for Big Pharma products and the commencement of quality testing, the company is also pursuing entry into the high-value-added specialized analysis sector as part of its strategy to strengthen its foundation for mid- to long-term growth.

SLSBio(Specialty Lab Solution Bio) Co., Ltd reported that third-quarter revenue in its pharmaceutical quality testing division has recovered to the level seen in the second quarter of last year, prior to the trading suspension. This is the result of the company’s focus on re-establishing relationships with existing clients and securing new customers since it was re-designated as a testing and inspection agency for pharmaceuticals and other products by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety last October. SLSBio Co., Ltd explained that new testing requests related to biopharmaceuticals, such as antibody therapies and vaccines, are also on the rise.

In particular, the company completed the technology transfer for 42 products related to a major global pharmaceutical company (Big Pharma) in June, a project that began in the second half of 2024. It has been conducting quality inspections for these products since July. With the completion of the technology transfer having laid the groundwork for conducting related quality inspections in earnest, the company plans to expand its new order intake by leveraging its biopharmaceutical quality management capabilities.

The company has also secured contracts in its new food testing and inspection business. Following its designation as a food testing and inspection agency by the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety on August 31, SLSBio(Specialty Lab Solution Bio) Co., Ltd signed quality inspection contracts with seven major food manufacturers. In September, the company launched its self-quality outsourcing inspection business for health functional foods and general food products. In the first quarter of 2027, the company plans to seek authorization for specialized food inspection services to expand its business scope into the imported food inspection market.

The functional food distribution business has also entered the revenue-generating phase. Having prepared for this business since early this year, SLSBio Co., Ltd obtained the necessary licenses for general and specialized distribution of functional foods and signed consignment agreements with two companies, including NPK. Revenue has been generated since last August. Going forward, the company plans to pursue R&D for individually certified functional foods and enhance the sophistication of functional food formulations to achieve product differentiation and sales growth.

The company is also cultivating the high-value-added specialty analysis sector as a new growth engine. In response to strengthened pharmaceutical safety regulations, it is expanding its businesses in the analysis of impurities—such as nitrosamines—and cell characterization. The company plans to leverage its existing pharmaceutical quality control capabilities to meet specialized analytical demands and broaden its service scope to integrate with related businesses.

The company is also preparing to enter the field of nicotine analysis testing for e-cigarettes. It has identified potential for market expansion following the enactment of regulations regarding nicotine quality testing to ensure the safety of e-cigarette users. The company is currently working to obtain the ISO 17025 certification required for business participation and aims to complete the certification process by the first quarter of next year in collaboration with a consulting firm.
