According to the union on the 21st, members have tentatively postponed the second general strike—which was scheduled to run for three weeks starting on the 26th—and are reevaluating their strike strategy. Previously, on the 16th, the Seoul High Court expanded the scope of production processes subject to strike restrictions from three to nine during an appeal hearing on the injunction prohibiting strike activities.
The union requested negotiations with management on the 19th. An extraordinary general meeting to secure strike funds is scheduled for the 22nd.
Management is currently reviewing how to proceed with dialogue with the union. A SAMSUNG BIOLOGICS spokesperson stated, “We have received an official notice from the union regarding the postponement of the strike and a request for negotiations,” adding, “The company will continue to make efforts to maintain dialogue with the union.”
Separately, the union has been holding lunchtime rallies at the company’s BioPark since the 19th. The rallies take place from 12:30 p.m. and last approximately 15 to 20 minutes. According to the union, the number of participants, which was 30 on the first day, increased to about 250 on this day.
Since these rallies take place during lunch breaks—which are considered non-working hours—they face relatively fewer legal restrictions compared to labor disputes occurring during regular working hours.
The union plans to continue holding peaceful rallies during lunch breaks while seeking a resolution through negotiations. A union official said, “The union is ready to engage in dialogue with the company at any time,” adding, “We will find a solution through good-faith negotiations.”
