According to their agency, YG Entertainment, on the 23rd, BABYMONSTER will release their new digital single “DESERVE” at 1:00 p.m. via various online music platforms. This is their first new release in about four months since they unveiled “SUGAR HONEY ICE TEA” last June.
“DESERVE” is a pop ballad that blends lyrical synthesizer melodies with a retro vibe. The lyrics express the desire to see a loved one happy while reflecting on past memories. The emotional intensity that builds toward the chorus, combined with the members’ soulful vocals, is a highlight of the track.
Baby Monster has previously focused on intense hip-hop and dance music. This time, they are determined to showcase a different side of their charm with a track centered on their vocals.
Through their agency, the members stated, “‘Dizerv’ is a song in a style we’ve never showcased before. You’ll be able to see a side of us that’s even more mature than before.” They added, “We practiced focusing on the flow of emotions rather than the pitch of the notes. Since it’s a song that fits perfectly with fall, we hope you’ll listen to it comfortably whenever you need a change of pace.”
Earlier, Chief Producer Yang Hyun-suk introduced the new song, saying, “Although it’s a slow song, it possesses more intense energy than any track we’ve released so far.” He added, “I hope Baby Monster’s delicate vocals and explosive vocal power will deeply move our fans,” encouraging everyone to show their support.

◇YouTube Subscribers Surpass 13 Million… Intense Promotional Activities Draw Attention
BABYMONSTER is a leading K-pop girl group making a strong impact onYouTube. With over13million subscribers on their official channel, they rank third among K-pop girl groups, following BLACKPINK and TWICE. They have steadily expanded their global fanbase through a variety of content, including music videos and performance clips.
This year, in particular, they have broadened their connection with fans through even more active promotions. Following the release of their mini-album “CHOOM” in May and promotions for the title track of the same name, they released the digital single “Sugar Honey Iced Tea” in June and continued their promotional activities. In July and August, they released music videos for the mini-album tracks “I LIKE IT” and “MOON” in succession and performed on music show stages. During this period, they released four music videos and three performance videos. In August, they managed a busy schedule that included an appearance at the major Japanese music festival “Summer Sonic.”
However, their performance on domestic music charts has been deemed somewhat disappointing. “SHEESH” and “DRIP,” released in 2024, peaked at No. 9 and No. 11, respectively, on Melon’s daily chart, but subsequent releases failed to break into the top 100. Last year’s releases, “HOT SAUCE” and “WE GO UP,” peaked at No. 131 and No. 111, respectively. This year’s releases, “Dance” and “Sugar Honey Iced Tea,” also peaked at No. 113 and No. 244, respectively.
Performance on domestic music charts remains one of the key indicators of a K-pop artist’s popularity. Against this backdrop, interest is focused on the results of Baby Monster’s comeback, as they have chosen a pop ballad with a different vibe from their previous music. It remains to be seen whether they can broaden their appeal to the domestic audience with this new song, which highlights their vocal prowess—a recognized strength.
BABYMONSTER is scheduled to appear on MBC’s “Show! Music Core” on the 24th—the day after the new song’s release—and on SBS’s “Inkigayo” on the 25th, where they will perform live with handheld microphones. They will also continue their global activities through their second world tour, “Dance,” which features a total of 31 performances across 18 cities on five continents. They are also planning to release a new album early next year.
