[Edaily Reporter Kang Min-koo ] CONTEC Co.,Ltd(451760), a South Korean company specializing in space ground stations, has successfully completed Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT) at its U.S. facility for two 9-meter antennas at a solar observation satellite receiving station. These antennas are designed to receive data from solar observation satellites operated by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).

The test was carried out by combining TXSpace’s expertise in antenna design and manufacturing with CONTEC Co.,Ltd.’s system integration (SI) capabilities for ground stations. The success of this test is significant in that it validated the core performance and functionality of the antenna system. This has laid the groundwork for moving into the on-site integration and full-scale operation phases.
It is also significant in that it demonstrates the companies’ ability to go beyond simply erecting large antennas to secure independent design and manufacturing capabilities, as well as a mass production infrastructure, for large satellite ground station antennas.
Building on this achievement, CONTEC Co.,Ltd. and TXSpace plan to further advance their standardized design and manufacturing processes for various antenna specifications. In addition, they plan to establish a product portfolio capable of reliably supplying antenna solutions in a variety of sizes—ranging from 3.7-meter to 7.3-meter and 9-meter antennas—to meet customer requirements.
Furthermore, by refining strict testing and verification procedures along with quality control systems, the companies aim to improve manufacturing efficiency and ensure consistent quality across models, ultimately establishing a flawless mass production system.
With the recent rapid global increase in satellite operations, the importance of ground station infrastructure is growing by the day. TXSpace has secured orders for numerous antennas from major global space companies such as Blue Origin, Planet, and KSAT and is currently developing them; the company plans to solidify its position in the global market with the successful development of this 9-meter antenna.
In particular, CONTEC Co.,Ltd plans to go beyond TXSpace’s in-house antenna manufacturing capabilities and maximize its ability to integrate core ground station technologies—such as RF (radio frequency) systems, antenna drive and control systems, and satellite signal reception systems—to enhance its competitiveness in securing contracts for ground station construction projects as a whole.
A CONTEC Co.,Ltd official stated, “The success of this test is the result of the outstanding local manufacturing capabilities of our subsidiary, TXSpace, combined with CONTEC Co.,Ltd’s system integration technology,” adding, “We will solidify the standardization and mass production systems for our antenna solutions and continue to strengthen our competitiveness in the global satellite ground station market.”
