[Edaily Reporter PARK MIN ] SK hynix’s record-breaking earnings and the announcement of additional shareholder return measures have improved investor sentiment toward semiconductor stocks, driving their share prices higher.

According to MP Doctor, as of 10:28 a.m. today, SK hynix is trading at 1,446,000 won, up 7.83% from the previous trading day.

SKSQUARE(402340), which holds a stake in SK hynix, is up 8.33%. The KOSPI “blue-chip” SamsungElectronics(005930)is trading at 240,250 won, up 8.22%. Related stocks such as SamsungElectronics(1P)(005935)(8.94%), Samsung Life Insurance(032830)(9.02%), and SAMSUNG C&T CORPORATION(028260)(8.31%) are also on the rise.

As major semiconductor stocks rise, materials, parts, and equipment (MPE) stocks are also performing strongly in the KOSDAQ market. JUSUNG ENGINEERING Co.,Ltd.(036930)(up 4.92%), along with EO Technics Co., Ltd.(039030)(up 5.06%), LEENO Industrial Inc(058470)(up 5.05%), WONIK IPS Co.,Ltd.(240810)(up 5.44%), and SIMMTECH Co., Ltd.(222800)(up 7.59%), are all gaining ground.

Semiconductor stocks are rising as investor sentiment has rebounded following Anthropic’s filing for an initial public offering (IPO). Overnight on the New York Stock Exchange, major AI infrastructure stocks also performed strongly on news that Anthropic and Broadcom had signed a $63 billion AI semiconductor contract.

In addition, SK hynix announced an additional 60 trillion won shareholder return plan before the market opened today, drawing buying interest into related stocks. Combined with the 40 trillion won in share buybacks recently completed, this year’s total shareholder returns will reach 100 trillion won.

Third-quarter revenue reached 104.6155 trillion won, marking the first time the company has surpassed 100 trillion won in a single quarter, while operating profit stood at 83.3333 trillion won, continuing its streak of record-breaking performance.

SamsungElectronics is set to release its detailed third-quarter results on the 29th. With the semiconductor supercycle continuing due to the expansion of AI infrastructure, the Device Solutions (DS) division—which oversees the semiconductor business—is expected to have single-handedly driven nearly 110 trillion won of the company’s total operating profit.

Han Ji-young, an analyst at KIWOOM Securities, stated, “The domestic stock market rose, buoyed by the strength of U.S. semiconductor stocks driven by positive news from Anthropic and Broadcom, as well as easing pressure on interest rates and oil prices due to the calming of tensions in the Middle East,” adding "During the trading session, the momentum of gains is expected to vary across sectors, influenced by SK hynix’s conference call, the Federal Open Market Committee (FOMC) meeting scheduled for early tomorrow morning, and market anticipation of hyperscaler earnings reports," she said.
