"Rising Ocean Freight Rates Weigh on Logistics Costs… Stabilization Expected Starting in November" - LGELECTRONICS Conference Call

[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] "Ocean freight rates remain high due to geopolitical risks, port congestion, and adjustments to vessel capacity. In particular, with the intensification of the war in the Middle East and imbalances in vessel supply and demand, additional costs are arising in some regions, raising concerns that the stabilization of logistics costs may be somewhat delayed compared to previous expectations. However, starting in November, upward pressure on freight rates is expected to ease as peak-season demand subsides and port congestion gradually clears. Market research firms also forecast a gradual stabilization of the logistics cost index. Next year, shipping supply-demand imbalances are expected to gradually resolve due to an expansion in vessel supply from newbuilds and shorter shipping lead times. We plan to secure stability in freight rates and vessel operations through long-term contracts with specific carriers, while also promptly reflecting market rate fluctuations via ongoing bidding and renegotiations with carriers should freight rates begin to decline. By leveling out production volumes and adjusting shipping operations accordingly, we intend to proactively secure inventory in preparation for the next peak season, thereby minimizing the impact of freight rate fluctuations and establishing a stable supply system."
