[E-Daily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] LGELECTRONICS plans to enter the home humanoid robot market around 2030. The company plans to begin full-scale operations of its Robot Data Factory in the fourth quarter of this year and, in collaboration with NVIDIA, secure 500,000 hours of robot training data by the end of the year. It is also accelerating preparations for the mass production of actuators—a core robot component—as it works to secure future growth engines.

During its third-quarter earnings conference call held on the 28th, LGELECTRONICS stated, “We plan to expand into the home humanoid robot business around 2030, when the humanoid robot market is expected to begin growing in earnest.”

In particular, the company believes that achieving a price point accessible to general consumers is key to expanding the market. LGELECTRONICS explained, “We are pursuing an approach that combines robots designed for home appliances with home appliances designed for robots.”

Key facilities to support this expansion of the robotics business are also set to begin operations. LGELECTRONICS plans to fully launch the LG Data Factory, built in Umyeon-dong, Seoul, in the fourth quarter of this year. This facility is designed to collect robot training data in spaces that simulate real-world environments—such as homes and manufacturing sites—and to enhance the performance of artificial intelligence (AI) models.

Collaboration with NVIDIA is central to the data acquisition process. The two companies are cooperating across the entire spectrum of physical AI technologies, including simulation, world models, and robot development platforms. Their goal is to secure a cumulative total of approximately 500,000 hours of robot training data this year by combining data collected from real-world environments with virtual data.

Alongside robot development, the company is also establishing a production base for core components. LGELECTRONICS set up a pilot production line for actuators in Changwon during the first half of this year and is currently preparing for mass production by automating equipment and enhancing quality competitiveness. It is also actively pursuing orders from global clients.

In the AI data center cooling solutions business—another new growth engine—order intake is also expanding. Cumulative order value for the third quarter of this year exceeded 3 trillion won, a significant increase from the 600 billion won level recorded in the first half. In response, the company plans to invest approximately 220 billion won to expand production facilities in Virginia, U.S., as well as in Pyeongtaek and Changwon, South Korea.

The company is also broadening its business scope from its traditional focus on chillers to include liquid cooling products such as cooling water distribution units (CDUs). In the long term, the company plans to enhance profitability by expanding into an integrated solutions business that provides design, control, and maintenance services for cooling systems.

The company is also expanding its automotive electronics business into high-value-added sectors. It is broadening its business scope from existing in-vehicle infotainment (IVI) systems to high-performance computing (HPC) related to autonomous driving and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS).

At the same time, the company will continue its shareholder return policy. It plans to cancel all approximately 730,000 treasury shares repurchased this year by the end of the fourth quarter and to pursue an additional 100 billion won in shareholder returns next year.

LGELECTRONICS stated, “We plan to pursue various shareholder value enhancement initiatives in 2027, including an additional 100 billion won in shareholder returns.”
