SK On: "Prioritizing the Conversion of EV Production Lines to ESS in the Short Term… Considering Expansion in the Long Term" – SK Innovation Conference Call
[Edaily Reporter JAEMIN SONG ] "We are actively pursuing new orders to meet growing demand in non-Chinese ESS markets, particularly in the U.S., as well as in South Korea and Europe.
From the initial stages of pursuing orders, we are comprehensively evaluating the costs of converting existing electric vehicle (EV) production lines for ESS use, as well as production efficiency. We are reviewing the optimal production bases and volume allocation while minimizing the burden of additional capital expenditures (CAPEX).
In the short term, we are prioritizing the conversion of existing EV production lines for ESS use over new capacity expansion. However, in the long term, we plan to respond proactively, taking into account the scale of orders and market conditions.”
