Actors Shin Min-ah, Joo Ji-hoon, Lee Jong-suk, Lee Se-young, and Director Jo Su-won attended the event. At the press conference, Disney+ announced that “The Second Queen” would premiere on the 3rd, one day earlier than the originally scheduled release on the 4th. Director Jo Su-won stated, “I’m both nervous and excited,” adding, “The response at the Busan International Film Festival was positive, so my expectations are even higher. We were most curious to see how you all would react when the series aired simultaneously worldwide. I’m really nervous.” He added, “It feels even more meaningful since the series is launching on the very day of the press conference.” Lee Se-young said, “I’m nervous because we’re meeting viewers a day earlier than expected, but I’m also really looking forward to it,” adding, “I’m curious about your reactions, and I hope you’ll enjoy the show and find it charming.” “The Remarried Empress” is a romantic fantasy epic that unfolds when “Nabie” (Shin Min-a), the perfect empress of the Dongdae Empire, is served with divorce papers by Emperor “Sobiesh” (Joo Ji-hoon)—who has fallen for the runaway slave “Rasta” (Lee Se-young). Instead of accepting the divorce, she demands permission to remarry Prince “Heinri” (Lee Jong-suk) of the Western Kingdom. Shin Min-ah explained her reason for joining the cast, saying, “I read the script before I saw the original work. It was a new kind of script.” She continued, “I was curious, and I had both concerns and high expectations about how it would turn out. While the story might be familiar to us in some ways, I felt that if the familiar and the new were harmoniously blended into a drama, it could become a new kind of drama.” She continued, “I joined the project because the script was thrilling, and I felt the role of the Empress would allow me to show a side of myself that I haven’t shown before.” Joo Ji-hoon joked about playing the Emperor, saying, “When I first read the original work, it felt unfamiliar to my taste. I agonized over it for quite a while. I sniffed it, looked at the color, and checked to see if I could actually put it in my mouth.” He continued, “But someone I trust just went ahead and put it in my mouth. I’m still analyzing it.” Regarding the show, he said, “I think I had some preconceptions. The word ‘soup’ sounds familiar, but ‘soup’ itself might be unfamiliar. I think I had those preconceptions, but it seems like it could very well suit my taste. I guess I’ll just have to watch it.” Lee Jong-suk said, “I’ve enjoyed the webtoon and web novel. When I heard it was being adapted into a drama, I thought it would be an unfamiliar yet appealing project,” adding, “I joined the cast thinking, ‘When else would I get the chance to play a prince?’” Lee Se-young revealed, “I found the character appealing because she’s a villain you can’t help but love, even though you trust her. I heard about it after the casting had already been finalized, which made me even more eager to be part of it.”
