On the 3rd, Minho posted an apology on his Instagram account, stating, “I’m sorry for disappointing so many people during the marathon I participated in on November 1.”
He continued, “This was entirely due to my own shortcomings, and as someone who cherishes and loves sports, I feel deeply ashamed,” adding, “Once again, I apologize for causing you concern.”
Minho said, “I will be more careful to ensure this doesn’t happen again and will strive to always present a positive image,” adding, “I cannot accept the result of this marathon, and I will not forget the lessons I’ve learned from this experience.”
Finally, he added, “I express my respect to all the runners who work hard and shed countless drops of sweat.”
Previously, Minho participated in the “2026 JTBC Seoul Marathon” held on the 1st and completed the 42.195 km full course in 3 hours and 18 seconds. This marked the first time Minho had successfully completed a full marathon. Subsequently, controversy arose after a video went viral online showing a runner who had been running alongside Minho appearing to push him from behind.
The “2026 JTBC Seoul Marathon” was a joint event organized by JTBC, the Korea Athletics Federation, and Runable. The Korea Athletics Federation’s competition rules prohibit any physical assistance that could aid a runner’s forward momentum—except when helping a fallen runner to their feet. Consequently, concerns were raised that Minho may have received improper assistance from another runner during the race.
