[Edaily Reporter Kwon Oh Seok ] “9.81 Park Jeju,” operated by next-generation leisure platform company Daesung Fine Tech. Co., Ltd(104040), has successfully established a proprietary software-based operating system that continuously refines its content through user data analysis. (Photo courtesy of DSM Corporation) DSM Corporation announced on the 4th that 9.81 Park Jeju has completed a data-driven content update framework, carrying out 10 major software upgrades last year alone. At 9.81 Park, from the moment a rider climbs into a gravity-powered racing car, vehicle sensors and an inertial measurement unit (IMU) transmit driving data—including steering angle, brake pressure, vehicle position, and lateral acceleration—to a central server in real time at 0.2-second intervals. This precise data—collected in the millions each year—is analyzed using artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms to identify users’ driving styles and skill levels, and is used to automatically match racers of similar ability. This big data analysis directly leads to the development of new content. For example, after identifying a user pattern where companions enjoyed competing for lap times, the platform added a new “Battle Room” feature that supports real-time competition; it also introduced a “Starter Booster” system for high-end racers, which activates if the vehicle starts within 0.4 seconds of the starting signal. Just as smartphone operating systems (OS) are periodically updated, the space itself evolves through data. This structure is underpinned by the overwhelming volume of data assets accumulated since the facility’s opening. As of June this year, 9.81 Park Jeju—which opened in 2020—has recorded 3 million cumulative visitors, 5.5 million cumulative races, and a total driving distance of 8.49 million km. This is a staggering figure—enough to circle the Earth approximately 212 times. DSM Corporation plans to fully expand and apply this proven data operation model to “9.81 Incheon Airport,” scheduled to open in the spring of 2027. This indoor theme park, located near Terminal 1 of Incheon International Airport, is currently over 90% complete and is being developed to accommodate up to 2 million visitors annually. Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the nearby PARADISE City integrated resort, the company aims to create synergies for extended-stay tourism, while also accelerating its overseas expansion through licensing agreements targeting markets such as Hangzhou, China, as well as Japan, Singapore, and the Middle East. Kim Jong-seok, CEO of DSM Corporation, emphasized, “The fundamental core competitiveness of 9.81 Park lies not in mere hardware facilities, but in data and software capabilities,” adding, “This virtuous cycle—where we analyze customers’ driving data and feed it back as engaging content—will become DSM Corporation’s unique core asset as we expand into the global market.”
